This is a problem with the flaps that fold over onto the back rest that sits underneath the bars. These flaps are the key part of the design and hold the chair together. I took all the material out for a bend which wasn't neccessary so next time I will just use a "V" cut.
The bars that fold over the back rest were extremely flimsy because i took out all the material for the bend. For the final model I will just do a "V" cut because they work really well even though they are alot harder to cut.
The bars that run through the back section doesn't have enough flexibility so some material needs to be removed in order for them to bend back with out taring.
The first problem was that the side ripped because there was too much tention and i didn't score the inner side.
It also ripped because the back rest was very thin and couldn't sustain alot of weight so that means the back section need to be wider and stronger.
This is a 1:1 Scale mock up with Xanita Board and this image is of the flat pattern before it is folded into the first part of the chair.
